AT&T Galaxy S4 Reboots When Instagram Launches [How To Fix]

Advertisements
We've already heard a lot of reports from Galaxy S4 owners before that their units reboot when a specific app is launched. Among the apps reported to have caused the random reboots were Google's mobile Chrome, Camera and the stock browser. Today, we've received an email from our reader suggesting Instagram could also cause the same problem.

Here's the email:

Hi SeberTech Team,

It's merely just a week since I got my phone, Samsung Galaxy S4 (White Frost), from AT&T. I'm totally impressed with it, it's performance, responsiveness, screen brightness, etc., but there's one thing troubling me right now.

I just downloaded and installed the official Instagram app and I knew there was nothing wrong with the installation as it went through like any other apps I installed a while back. The thing is, when I first launch Instagram, my phone restarted without apparent reason. So, I was thinking maybe I needed to reboot my S4 after the installation.

When my phone was back up, I launched Instagram again and the phone did the same. So, right there I knew something was  not right.

Do you know what causes this?

Do you have any suggestions on what I should do to fix this problem.

I hope you do.

Regards,

Greg

In general sense, it is clear the automatic reboot problem on AT&T Galaxy S4, as narrated by our reader, was caused by the Instagram app. However, we don't specifically know why it happens considering there were millions of people who have installed the app without having to encounter this problem. Here are some of our recommendations for you:

Clear Instagram Cache & Data

1.       Tap the Menu key from the home screen.
2.       Tap Settings.
3.       Touch More tab.
4.       Tap Application Manager.
5.       Swipe left to choose All tab.
6.       Scroll to and tap Instagram.
7.       Tap Clear Cache button.
8.       Tap Clear Data button.
9.       Tap Force Stop button.

Now launch the application again and see if it still causes the reboot. If it does, continue with the next procedure.

Reinstall Instagram App

1.       Tap the Menu key from the home screen.
2.       Tap Settings.
3.       Touch More tab.
4.       Tap Application Manager.
5.       Swipe left to chose All tab.
6.       Scroll to and tap Instagram.
7.       Now tap the Uninstall button and confirm your action.
8.       Reboot your phone.
9.       Reinstall Instagram from the Play Store.

Check if the reboot still persists. In case it does, try Factory Reset. After all, your phone is new and you must have very little data for now.

If all things fail, request for a replacement. For sure, AT&T would be willing to replace the phone with a new one to keep its customers happy.
