Need to hide your caller identification when calling someone with your new Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge or other Galaxy smartphone? Read on to learn how.

There are times when you need to call someone without letting them know it's you who's calling. For example, you're making a surprise call or just want to mess around with someone you know of. But majority, if not all important people in your life have your number saved on their phones. Needless to say, they will know it's you who's calling by just looking at the incoming call number. Good thing Samsung has seen this as one of the possible needs for mobile device consumers to be met. And in response to that consumer demand, the company has entrenched a calling feature that will let you hide your caller identification number when calling somebody for whatever reasons.

This post will walk you through the steps to activate this feature and ensure that the person receiving your call won't be able to see your phone number and name when you make a call.

Here's how you do it:

1. Tap Phone to get started.

2. For newer Galaxy phone models, tap More or three dots icon located on the upper-right corner of the Phone app screen. (This step may vary slightly depending on the model of your device). For older models, you will have to tap the Menu button located on the bottom left corner of the device.

3. Next, tap to select Settings or Call Settings from the menu options.

4. If prompted with an option to select settings for either Call or Contacts, select Call. Otherwise, continue to step 5.

5. Scroll to and tap to select More Settings or Additional Settings from the given options.

6. Select Caller ID or Show Caller ID or Show my Caller ID. Again, menu options may vary depending on the device model.

7. Select Hide Number to activate the function.

After that, you're caller identification number should be hidden.

Please note though that your caller identification will not be hidden when sending text messages. In addition, some countries and carriers do not allow you to hide your number so if you've already followed the aforesaid steps and your number is still showing, that could be the reason. You may contact your carrier/mobile network provider and verify if they allow this feature.
