Due to the augmenting demands from device owners, Samsung has offered a file-transfer utility called Samsung Smart Switch. It works by allowing users to seamlessly move files/contents such as music, videos, photos, contacts, messages, calendar, notes, etc., from an iPhone device to a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, including GS4 and the new GS5.
The following steps will guide you through moving files or data from the iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S5.
Step 1. Back up files to iCloud.
Before you begin the file transfer from your iPhone to GS5, back up your iPhone data to iCloud. Among the iPhone data you can transfer to an Android phone include contacts, calendar events, alarm and WiFi settings, browser bookmarks, application list, call history and photos.
Step 2. Download the Smart Switch Mobile App.
Smart Switch Mobile app is available at Google Play Store. Download and install Smart Switch Mobile. Look for and select the Smart Switch app to open and agree to the terms and conditions.
Step 3. Begin file transfer.
After you download and install Smart Switch Mobile on your Samsung device, start the transfer. To initiate file transfer, select "Import from iCloud" and enter your valid Apple ID and password. If you happen to have multiple smartphone backups on your iCloud account, just select the source device you preferred for the current transfer. Select the content(s) you wish to transfer and tap "Let's start the transfer" option to continue.
Step 4. Locate your apps.
There are many Android apps similar to those you had on your iPhone device. Tap any of these applications to launch the Google Play Store and tap "Install" to begin app installation. In order to see which apps did not have an exact match, just tap "Recommendations."
Hint: When you select a specific app in the list, recommended apps will be displayed.
Step 5. Transfer music and video files
All your music and video files from iTunes can now be transferred.
1.1. Connect your iPhone to your PC or Mac computer using a USB cable.
1.2. Wait until both devices have established connection and start backing up using iTunes.
1.3. Download and install Smart Switch app for your computer (PC or Mac)
1.4. Once installed, launch/open Smart Switch on your computer.
1.5. Select your device.
1.6. Select the content(s) or file(s) you want to transfer.
1.7. Press "Start Transfer" to initiate file transfer.
For the file transfer to be successful, both devices used must be supported by Smart Switch. Here’s the list of devices/smartphones, which you can transfer file from and to using Smart Switch utility.
