Problem:
When attempting to type a text, email, web address, etc the screen detects the
wrong letters completely! When typing an “e” it’ll display “r” or “w” …
this problem persists across the board. Only by locking, then unlocking seconds
later the screen will it temporarily fix the issue. I and NUMEROUS customers
have noticed these issues on these three devices which has become a nuance.
Thank
you for your time!
My first
impression of this problem is not with the keyboard, it’s with the touchscreen.
So, I’m going to let you do LCD test first as it may be able to resolve more
problems, not just this one.
Testing
Screen Responsiveness
Step 1:
Launch phone dialer and dial *#7353#.
Step 2:
Choose TSP Dot Mode first to show a blank white screen.
Step 3:
Tap on the area where you were having problems with your keyboard. It should
mark “x” where you pressed, otherwise there’s really a problem in that area.
Step 4:
Tap on Back button to go back to previous menu then choose TSP Grid Mode. It
will show a white screen with grids laid on top of it.
Step 5:
Drag your finger from end to end and see if it draws a line. If there are some
areas where the line is broken, that’s where the problem lies.
Step 6:
Try uninstalling 3rd party messaging apps because it has been proven to affect
keyboard performances.
Step 7: If
it doesn’t resolve this issue, backup all your data and do a Factory Reset.
Resetting
the Galaxy S3 into its factory settings may solve this problem, however, in
case it won’t try using different keyboard app. There are plenty of options
from the Play Store and you can choose the one that is considerably popular
because they are updated as often as possible, so they are free from bugs and
other issues.
