Is your Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge battery life pretty bad or drains fast in just a few hours of usage? You’re not alone. Many S6 owners have been raising similar complaint a few days or weeks after procuring the new Samsung flagship smartphone. While we haven’t yet got a guaranteed fix for this issue, we’ve managed to gather some workarounds that somehow helped other S6 users deal with this problem. And we want to share it with you through this post.

1. Search for apps and other services that are eating up your battery.
Often times, it’s not the device’s battery or operating system that is causing power problems to exist. Some apps and other services are typically the main culprit. That said, we first recommend checking on your third-party apps for potential problems. If you are using an app a lot in many devices, not just the Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, you will notice it’s going to drain your battery fast.
Aside from third-party apps/services, other possible causes of poor battery life on a device are certain bugs that’s triggering an application to go rogue and begin to drain the device’s charge abnormally.
As your workaround, go and check your Galaxy S6 settings and start scrutinizing the effect that some of your apps are having on your battery life. To view a detailed analysis on battery usage/consumption on your device, check the Battery section under Settings. If you notice anything unusual, then it’s time to have a closer look at your apps. If you suspect an app is using more battery life than it should be, try uninstalling it to see if it brings a positive result on your phone’s overall battery life.
2. Boot into Safe Mode for further diagnosis.
If it’s difficult for you to determine which app is causing this trouble, then try to boot your device into Safe Mode. In safe mode, only the pre-installed apps are running as third-party apps will be disabled. So, it would be a lot easier for you to isolate the potential culprits.

a. Power off the phone.
b. Press and hold the Power button and Volume down key until the phone turns back on.
c. Once the device boots up, release the Power button but keep holding down the Volume key.
d. When you’ve entered into Safe Mode, you will see Safe Mode at the bottom left side of the screen.
3. Reboot your phone.
If this is the first time you notice an unusual battery life drain on your device or it starts to heat up, then you can try to perform a simple restart and see if it goes back to normal afterwards. Since you cannot remove the phone’s battery, you can force your phone to reboot by holding down the Power button, and then select an option to Turn it Off. After a few seconds, hold the Power button down to turn it back on.
4. Disable other unnecessary services or phone features.
You can always disable other phone features and services that are in use. Doing so tends to bring a positive outcome on the overall battery life.
Among the services you can turn off or disable momentarily (especially if you’re not using them) are the following:
* Wi-Fi connectivity
* Bluetooth connectivity
* Cellular Data
You can always re-enable any of these features when necessary anyway.
As what mobile experts have figured out, poor cellular coverage is often to blame for bad battery life on Android devices. So it could also be one of the main culprits of the emerging battery issue on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge smartphones. It purportedly happens because the phone needs to search hard for a signal and when it does, it also runs the battery down quicker than usual. So if you think, you are in an area with poor cellular coverage, you may consider enabling the Airplane Mode on your device. It’s highly recommended in areas with no strong 4G or LTE signal.
