Generally, smartphone storage systems are programmed in such a way that the default storage for multimedia files is set to the phone memory. Just like what’s set in various Samsung Galaxy smartphones including the highest-tiered variants.
If you want to change the default storage for photos and videos, follow these steps to configure your device so that all photos and videos taken with your phone’s camera app will directly be saved in to your SD card.
1. Tap Apps to get started.
2. Next, tap Camera. This will launch the camera app screen.
3. When on the camera app screen, tap the Settings icon.
- In newer Samsung Galaxy models, this icon is represented by a wheel-like image located on the upper-left corner of the screen.
- In some devices, you may need to tap the arrow at upper-right of the camera app screen first for you to get to the Camera app Settings menu.
4. Tap More to view more options. If you don’t see this screen, proceed to step 5.
5. Tap Storage Location.
6. When prompted with the Storage Location pop-up containing storage options available, tap to select Memory card or SD card.
Once you see the radio button next to Memory card is ticked, it means the default storage is now set to Memory card. Having that said, all photos and videos taken with your phone’s camera app will be saved straight in to the SD card.
To set default storage for Downloads from your phone’s memory to your SD card, follow these steps:
1. Open the browser app you want to use. For example, Internet.
2. Tap the three dots or Menu icon located on the upper-right corner of the browser screen.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap on Content settings.
Note: In other Samsung Galaxy models, you will still need to go the Advanced for you to configure default storage options.
5. Scroll to and tap on Default Storage on the right side of the screen.
6. Select Memory Card or SD card.
Downloads will now go straight to your memory or SD card.
