‘No SIM Card’ error on Samsung Galaxy S4 [Workarounds]

For some reasons, many owners of Samsung Galaxy S4 have encountered a common error after KitKat OS update, in which the majority are T-Mobile customers. Sometimes, the error occurs randomly and even during calls. This results to intermittent data connection on the phone and missed phone calls/texts.

no sim card error samsung galaxy s4 how to

If you are one of those who are having same SIM card issue with the S4, then you may try the following workarounds we provide in this content.

First, try to use a different SIM card in the device. Doing so will help you isolate the problem. If the other SIM card works just fine, then it simply denotes the problem is on your old or currently used SIM card. If this is the case, you will have to replace the SIM card. If you’re under T-Mobile, please visit your local corporate T-Mobile store and have your defective SIM card replaced. Also try to ask for a warranty exchange. Do the same with other carriers.

Other Workarounds:

Other than changing SIM cards, other users have temporarily fixed this SIM card issue with the following workarounds. Read on to find out if any of these methods is worth a try on your end.

1. Cutting down a piece of paper similar to the size of the SIM card and slip it behind the SIM card (SIM card slot). This may sound a bit odd, but this works for some Galaxy S4 users experiencing the same SIM card problem on their device. Given this, it seems like the problem is on the SIM card width (thicker SIM card).

If problem persists, try this:

2. Remove the battery and SIM card from the phone. Re-insert the battery and the SIM card. Make sure both are properly placed in their respective slots. Once everything is in place, turn your GS 4 on and try.

3. If the error occurs randomly on your part, please try to check if there’s any thing with some kind of magnetic strip on them, like a credit/debit card, that’s placed near your phone. Some people found an interesting solution to this SIM card error on their Samsung Galaxy S4.

While the user in that forum post claimed his method had worked well on his part, we cannot guarantee it’ll do the same for you. Although, you may try to check.

Otherwise, we suggest you to wait for a definite fix from Samsung or your escalate this concern to your carrier immediately. Considering the number of people having the same SIM card issue on the S4 handset, Samsung or carrier(s) involved should take appropriate actions so as to offer ultimate and reliable solution to this problem.

Unfortunately, there’s is no definite fix available for SIM card error on Galaxy S5, so far. Basing on the reported complaints in forums and relevant sites, it seems to be a hardware fault.
