This content is specifically created in respond to an email we’ve got from one of our readers, saying her iPhone has no signal.

No service no signal on my iPhone how to

The original email reads:

“I had phone iPhone for 6 months and started to get no signal, my wife has same provider and her signal is fine. need help.” — Jennifer

Given the sender has failed to elaborate a more complete detail of her problem, we’ve decided to tackle the main issue here, which is No Signal on the iPhone, for the sake of addressing this concern.

No Service or No Signal issues on the iPhone device is generally associated with the following :

  • “No service” prompt in an area of good coverage
  • ” Searching” prompt showing in the status bar
  • iPhone is unable to regain service when going back to an area of coverage
  • No data under Modem Firmware under General Settings (About)

If you too have encountered any of the aforesaid symptoms on your iPhone device, you may also refer to this troubleshooting guide and start whenever you’re set.

Be sure to test after completing each step to see if the problem is fixed, otherwise continue to the next step.

1. Verify Airplane Mode is OFF or disabled. Here’s how:

a. Go to Settings.
b. Tap Enable Airplane Mode and wait for a few seconds, then turn it OFF.

2. Restart your iPhone, or turn it off and then on again.

3. Check the SIM card.

Remove the SIM card and verify if it’s carrier-manufactured SIM and valid. Also check the SIM card for any possible damages. After doing all these, re-insert the SIM card properly.

4. Verify carrier settings and check for any settings update from your network carrier. Here’s how:

a. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
b. Tap Settings.
c. Select General.
d. Tap About.

If you see an iOS update available, you may consider installing it first. If Wi-Fi is not available or you cannot connect to a Wi-Fi, connect your iPhone to iTunes.

5. Upgrade iPhone iOS.

It is highly recommended to update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS, as updates are rolled out to fix any existing issue on the device. You may consider giving this option a try.

6. Reconfigure or reset network settings on your iPhone. Here’s how:

a. Tap Settings.
b. Select General.
c. Tap Reset.
d. Select Reset Network Settings. Doing so will reset all network settings on your device including Bluetooth pairing records, VPN, APN settings and Wi-Fi passwords.

6. Restore your iPhone.

If problem persists after completing all the above-mentioned workarounds, then your final option is to restore your iPhone. This means restoring your iOS device to factory default settings, meaning, all your personal information will be erased.

In this case, we recommend you should create a backup of all your personal information first using iTunes.

If none of these fixed the problem, please contact your network carrier and escalate your issue for further troubleshooting or ask for possible device replacement. Also verify your account status to see it’s not causing the symptoms to occur on your iPhone.

Hope this could help.
