Two Simple Ways To Speed Up TouchWiz UI On Samsung Galaxy S4

Majority of reported performance issues with Samsung Galaxy S4 were caused by its TouchWiz UI. More often users experience lags, freezes and reboots when TouchWiz fails to work as expected. Unfortunately, users cannot just get rid of it because it is deeply integrated into the Galaxy S4's core. In fact, all of Samsung Galaxy S4 features are bound to it that is why when TouchWiz fails, the phone become literally unusable until the problem is fixed.

The following are ways you can do to speed up TouchWiz and make the phone even more responsive than before.

Turn Off Animation

Animations are essential to making the phone more attractive but honestly, they make things a little more complicated than they should be not to mention they eat up time and RAM. The Galaxy S4 has a lot of animations but fortunately, you can easily disable some of them. Here’s how:
  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Tap More.
  4. Touch About Device.
  5. Scroll down a bit to find the build number and tap on it at least 7 times.
  6. Go back to the previous screen and choose Developer Options.
  7. Scroll down a bit to find the Drawing section.
  8. Set Window Animation Scale to Off. Do the same for Transition Animation Scale and Animator Duration Scale.
  9. Browse through your phone and you will notice it became more responsive with lesser animation.
Unbind S Voice From The Home Key

The Home button on the Galaxy S4 has a second or two delay; it does not immediately respond when you pressed it. The reason behind it is that the Home key is bound to S Voice feature that whenever you double-press it, the feature will pop up. When pressed once, the phone would actually wait if the Home button would be pressed again that’s why many users found it annoying.

One way to make things a little smoother in your new phone is to stop S Voice from running using the Home key. To do so, you have to do the following:
  1. Double-press the Home button to launch S Voice.
  2. Once S Voice is running, tap the Menu key.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Uncheck ‘Open via the home key‘ option.
  5. Press the Home button again and you will immediately be brought to the home screen without delay.
